Esquimalt Anglers Association President Mike Weber and Director Ed Beatty pose for the camera after decorating our Live Christmas Tree for the Contest.
We would like to thank Bill Plater for the loan of his hand built 9 foot 6 inch Clinker Rowboat. Bill a long time Resident of Esquimalt and a Shipwright by trade has made many boats of this and other styles.
In the 1950`s Bill made many of these style boats at 12 feet in length for The Esquimalt Anglers who in turn gave them away as 1st prize in their Derby’s.
These hand built boats are made of Cedar, Oak and Mahogany and are fastened together with rivets consisting of a square copper nail and a dish shaped washer called a rove.
Many thanks of decades of support for Esquimalt Anglers Association.
Please take time to checkout all the Christmas Tree decorations until Dec 26th 2015.
The first Inaugural 2014 Christmas Tree Contest was won by Esquimalt Anglers’ Association and the first prize of $500.00 was donated back to the Recreation Center to be used for free swim passes for local youths.
