Halibut Size and Weight

DFO has restricted sportfishers to retain halibut of a maximum size of 102 cm, head on, or 78 cm head off. While the Halibut Size Gauge document is available, the table below lists up to and just past the maximum length halibut we’re allowed to keep. The IPHC defines “round weight” so: “Round weight. Weight of a (generally fresh) fish prior to dressing/processing so that head, gills, and internal organs are intact.” Round weight is, in effect, the gross weight of the fresh fish.
